Tellurium or rose

The tellurium crystal displays the Earth's orbit around the Sun once a year, as the Earth rotates once on its axis every 24 hours. Simultaneously, the Moon orbits the Earth every 29.5 days, completing a rotation on its own axis, so the different lunar phases are visible from Earth. The Earth passes through the 12 signs of the zodiac, the months, and the days, which can be read on a flat dial. It features an 8 4/4-day Westminster chime on four polished bells. Additional features include a strong seconds hand, a return spring, an 11-jewel Swiss escapement, polished plates, and an automatic night-time chime stop. Milled representations of the 12 signs of the zodiac are set within an openworked and polished rosette. A milled calendar displays the month and day. The rotating tellurium arm features hands and representations of the Sun, Moon, and Earth.
