The Swatch FlyMagic (2019)

This watch was born from a simple observation: the modern world is constantly subjected to the effects of magnetism, from our phones, computers, televisions, household appliances, and so on. And given that the reputation of Swiss watchmaking is built on precision, this is a growing problem that needed to be addressed, as magnetism is one of the worst factors affecting the accuracy of our precious timepieces. Thus, using its Sistem51 caliber , composed of only 51 parts and manufactured entirely automatically, requiring no fewer than 17 patents, Swatch incorporates a new innovation: an anti-magnetic balance spring made of Nivachron . This new titanium-based alloy not only reduces the effects of magnetism by a factor of 10 to 20 compared to a conventional balance spring, but also reduces the effects of shocks and extreme temperatures. The results: accuracy of +/-7 seconds , unparalleled reliability, increased longevity and an optimized power reserve of up to 90 hours .

This innovation is accompanied by a very surprising twist in the Swatch Flymagic: the Sistem51 movement has been modified, adding 15 new components to the existing 51. This allows the movement to be inverted to accommodate the hands, keep the crown at 3 o'clock, and thus place the oscillating weight on the dial side ! To maintain an unobstructed view of the dial, this oscillating weight is transparent and its weight is increased by tungsten balls, a metal known for its hardness and weight, while the bridges feature 3D-printed patterns . Of the three models presented, two are coated with Super-LumiNova on the hour markers and hands. The seconds hand has also been moved to 12 o'clock and is shaped like a star. The watch is topped with a sapphire crystal and is water-resistant to 3 ATM.
