RBG delivery at the end of July!
Do you love music? Do you love vinyl records? ARE YOU IN THE GROOVE? If you answered yes to one of these questions (or even none), this watch might be for you!
Inspired by the legendary Technics SL-1200 turntable (Panasonic) and equipped with a Miyota 9039 Premium automatic movement, this wristwatch isn't really meant to tell the time (although it does that very well). It's more about showing those around you what kind of person you are: a sophisticated music lover!
Since the birth of the "Chillmatic" vinyl dial (now available on ModModeWatches), the project was to create a complete watch with it.
I then designed the R-1 Mod case "in secret" and presented it as a simple, ordinary rectangular watch case for modders.
"In secret," meaning without any intention of revealing that it was the case designed for the Vinyl Record Player automatic watch. This was because there seemed to be a shortage of rectangular cases in the watch modding world. And it's actually easy to add or remove the hour ring, thanks to the case's sandwich construction.
I also created these hands in the shape of a vinyl record. This design, which can be confusing when checking the time, is the result of thinking inspired by the endless number of "vinyl record and turntable inspired wristwatch designs".
Most existing products were cheaply made, lacked durability, or were modified watches using "Chillmatic" vinyl dials :)
And most of these watches simply used normal watch hands, instead of using elements from the vinyl record/record player.
Time: The disc label with the "A" logo is the hour hand disc. It indicates the time with the tip of the "A". (In reality, the tip of the "A" should be slightly angled to the right.)
Minutes: The turntable's "arm" (playback arm) is the minute hand. Yes, it's not straight, it doesn't point directly to the minute marker, but you can interpret it in your own way (i.e., the center of the head points to the minutes, or the outer edge of the head points to the minutes).
Seconds: the disc in the center is the central disc. You can interpret this in different ways; for example, when the text on the disc is level, it corresponds to 0 seconds.
In any case, it took more than a year to get to this point, and the manufacturing process is still ongoing, but we're finally there!
I can finally reveal the complete design of the Vinyl Record Player automatic watch! (The rendering above doesn't show the strap, but it will look like this :)
